MINE EXPLORATION

MINE EXPLORATION.
Explore caverns that have been opened up by miners searching for slate or minerals at the turn of the last century. Learn about their interesting history from your Mine leader and discover fascinating artefacts left untouched since the day the mine closed. There are 100s of Mines in North Wales suitable for group or family exploration. Although North Wales has the most opportunities for Mine Exploration we also have some mining venues in South Wales. For those who are interested in taking up Mine Exploration we are also able to offer introduction to mine leader training courses.

PARTICIPANT GUIDELINES.
We can provide Mine Exploration to those from 8 to 80. The activity will be delivered at an age appropriate level that will also include your level of fitness. . For this activity you will need to be reasonably fit.

WEATHER.
Mine Exploration is weather dependant, in the case of adverse weather conditions an alternative will be offered, or were appropriate an alternative date.

DURATION.
Half day sessions are available. Sessions run 9:00 – 1:00 2:00 – 5:00 other timings available on request.

NUMBERS ON THE DAY.
There is no minimum number required to run this session. There is a maximum of 8 per instructor. However we are able to run groups of up to 40.

SPECTATORS.
Due to the nature of Mine Exploration we are unable to cater for spectators.

DRESS CODE.
All specialist equipment is provided. You will need to bring an old track suit, spare socks and wellies.

AVAILABILITY.
Available all year round.

LOCATION.
We have mines for you to explore at Tywyn on the West Wales coast and near Llangollen in North Wales.
